Based on Anne Fine’s 1987 novel, Alias Madame Doubtfire, and the 1993 movie led by Robin Williams, Mrs. Doubtfire is a heartfelt musical that celebrates the power of family. Whether you grew up with the story, or you're meeting Euphegenia Doubtfire for the first time, everyone will enjoy this family-friendly theatre tonic.
In a New York Theatre Guide review of the Broadway production, “there’s cranked-up performances and a busy tone, complemented by pop, disco, and power ballads.” The Mrs. Doubtfire musical centres on Daniel Hillard. He's an out-of-work actor, he’s newly divorced, and he loses custody of his children. Talk about bad things happening in threes. However, Daniel spots a cunning opportunity to spend more time with his children — become their nanny.
When Euphegenia Doubtfire takes a job in his ex-wife’s home, it’s all a ruse to stay in his children's lives. It doesn’t take long for the Doubtfire alias to consume his life, and Daniel quickly realises that putting on a mask won’t solve any problems. Can a fictional character teach him how to become a father?
