Hertfordshire Area | Rag Rugging Class

Unwind with this satisfying textile art class guided by a talented teacher!

Pick up an impressive new skill and learn how to transform old clothes into a sustainable piece of DIY home decor. Over three hours, you'll cover some rag rugging basics with loads of tips and tricks from your teacher. Dip your toe into the world of rag rugging and fall in love with the tactile design and relaxing process. You'll be learning in a laidback environment with all the materials you need and plenty of tea and biscuits too. Although everything you need is provided, you are also welcome to bring any old clothes or fabric you have. The charm of rag rugging is the memories attached to old clothes, so bring anything sentimental you'd like to incorporate.

You will learn how to use rag rugging equipment, how to select and prepare materials and two types of ruggings (loopy and shaggy). You'll put this knowledge into practice by starting a small project in the class, usually, a sunflower cushion. Rag rugging is a unique way to get everyone together doing something social and eco-friendly.

Our Ragged Life rag rug HQ is located in the beautiful grounds of Delamere House (cardinal Wolsey’s old hunting lodge) in the quaint village of Great Wymondley. One of the many perks of doing a workshop at our Rag Rug HQ is that you have free reign to choose from our extensive fabric hoard.
