South Yorkshire | Kelham Island Walking Tour

Kelham Island Walking Tour

Join a guided walking tour that brings to life the history of one of Sheffield’s first industrial districts.

Discover fascinating stories about its buildings, its people and what makes the area tick today.

It will also look at the life of anti-slavery campaigner and local benefactor who was born in the area and a pen maker’s wife who saw her poetry in print.

The walk is mainly on roads and pavements and so is accessible. It will start by the Bessemer Converter at the entrance to Kelham Island Museum. It finishes close to the same spot. After the walk, feel free to stay in the area and make use of the many local establishments.

The route is approximately 1.5 miles and will take around 2 hours. Your independent guide, Anders, will meet you at the Bessemer Converter to commence the walk.
