The walk itself is relatively easy but has been classed as moderate because some tracks, although good surfaces, are uneven and have loose stones underfoot.
The one steep incline is the stairs towards Penshaw Monument, however there is plenty of time to get to the top and enjoy the scenery. The walk is expected to last around 4 hours (including a break) and the distance is 6 miles with an ascent of 495 feet.
