A walk from St Ives, through The Thicket to Houghton Mill. The return is through the pretty Hemmingfords villages and Hemmingford Meadow.
Time 2 hours plus stop at Houghton Mill.
The Thicket has plenty of bird song during spring and summer. Look out for a disused railway line in Houghton, and the Houghton Mill a historic watermill. There are pretty thatched cottages in Houghton and Hemmingfords villages and the meadows are full of spring flowers in spring and early summer.

Surface paved most of the way, the footpaths between the Hemmingfords could get muddy.
Walking trainers are ok in dry weather, walking boots recommended in muddy weather
There maybe sections with brambles and nettles, a cream to relieve stings such as antihistamine is advised
Food / refreshments: Please bring water and snacks with you. We will stop for a break at Houghton Mill National trust restaurant, which serves delicious cakes and coffees. St Ives has a wide range of cafes and restaurants.
We will meet outside The Commute Cafe. Onstreet parking is available locally, plus St Ives has public car parks and is served by the Cambridgeshire Guided busway. There are also bicycle stands are outside The Commute Cafe.
Each CSSC Member may purchase one CSSC Member ticket per unique CSSC membership number, plus non member and/or child tickets for guests.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dogs on a lead are welcome. There may be grazing animals in the meadow sections. All parts of the walk are popular with families and young children.
Accessibility - Please note this is an easy walk for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty, a specific health problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over occasional obstructions. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.
